新田さんは愛媛県松山市の出身で、コンピュータゲーム開発会社マイクロキャビンに所属し、数多くのゲームサウンドを手がけてきました。代表的な参加タイトルには『サーク』シリーズ、『フレイ』、『幻影都市』などがあり、とりわけ1989年から1991年にかけて手がけたMSXサウンドは国内外から高い評価を受けています。PC-88版『サーク』の音楽制作には高校3年生の時に携わっており、愛媛の実家からマイクロキャビンにデータを宅配便で送るという、いわば元祖テレワークのような形で参加していたというエピソードも残っています。
Nitta hails from Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture, and was a member of the computer game development company Micro Cabin, where he composed music for numerous game titles. His notable works include the "Xak" series, "Fray," and "Illusion City," with the MSX soundtracks he created between 1989 and 1991 earning particularly high acclaim both domestically and internationally. He was involved in composing the music for the PC-88 version of "Xak" while still a high school senior, working from his family home in Ehime and sending data to Micro Cabin by courier — a style of remote work ahead of its time.マイクロキャビンを離れた後はフリーランスとなり、ゲーム以外の分野にも活動を広げています。現在は「新田みかん」の名で尺八奏者としても活動しており、ちんどん、トロンボーン、ヴァイオリン、二胡、トランペット、横笛など、主に単旋律楽器を得意とするミュージシャンとして、コンサートや演劇、舞台などで幅広く活躍しています。

He currently performs as a shakuhachi player under the name "Nitta Mikan," and is active as a musician specializing in primarily monophonic instruments such as chindon, trombone, violin, erhu, trumpet, and yokobue (transverse flute), performing at concerts, theater productions, and stage events.

2020年には、MSX搭載音源に焦点を当てた音楽プロジェクト「Oasis in 2op」を始動。マイクロキャビン時代の楽曲をMSX実機と2オペレーターFM音源シンセサイザーのみでセルフカバーしたアルバム『CLOAD』を発表し、続く2作目『CALL VOICE』では全曲オリジナルの新作を収録するなど、約30年ぶりにデジタルサウンドの世界に復帰しています。

新田さんとの出会いは、ある日私の元に届いた一通のメールがきっかけでした。コンテストの審査員として参加して欲しいという依頼で、そこには私の名前とともに新田忠弘さんの名前がありました。元マイクロキャビンということもあり大変懐かしく思い、コンテストの詳細についてお話を聞きたくて、私から新田さんにDMを送ったのが最初の接点です。結局、そのコンテストの審査員はお引き受けしませんでした。
My encounter with Nitta began with an email that arrived one day — a request to serve as a judge for a contest. Listed alongside my name was that of Tadahiro Nitta. Given his history with Micro Cabin, I felt a strong sense of nostalgia, and wanting to hear more about the contest details, I sent him a DM. That was our first point of contact. In the end, I did not accept the judging role.それから数年後、今度はオランダの有名なディスクマガジンから連絡が来ました。内容はたいへん熱心だったのですが、あまりに熱心だったのと、その人がなぜか新田さんと知り合いだと書いていたので、その真偽を確かめるべく、また私から新田さんにDMをしています。
Several years later, I was contacted by a well-known disc magazine from the Netherlands. The message was remarkably enthusiastic, and among other things, the sender claimed to be an acquaintance of Nitta. To verify whether that was true, I once again reached out to Nitta by DM.そのやり取りを通じて、新田さんがMSX界隈では大変著名な存在であることを改めて知り、また彼の音楽を聴いて「よくあるゲーム音楽」とはちょっと違う雰囲気に惹かれました。そこで、『XeGrader plus』のサウンド全般を正式に仕事として依頼し、現在に至ります。
Through these exchanges, I came to realize just how prominent a figure Nitta is within the MSX community. And upon listening to his music, I was drawn to an atmosphere that felt distinct from typical game music. That led me to formally commission him for all of the sound work on "XeGrader plus," and that is how we arrived at where we are today.こうして『XeGrader plus』のArcadeモードで再生されるサウンドは、すべて新田さんによる完全新規の作曲になったのです。彼は今後はこのXeGrader plusの音楽の世界をさらに広げていきたいとも話していたので、今後の活躍に期待してください。
And so, all of the sound heard in the Arcade mode of "XeGrader plus" is entirely new, original compositions by Nitta.
